VILLA DIQUE PROJECT

Our Programs:

At the Villa Dique Youth Center, we provide a range of resources and programs designed to empower and uplift.

  • Educational Opportunities: Children have access to reading, math, and portuguese lessons, bridging the educational gap they’ve faced due to limited schooling options.

  • Music and Creativity: With the help of local musicians, we offer music lessons that not only cultivate creativity but also inspire self-expression.

  • Health and Wellness: Doctors speak to young girls about reproductive health and hygiene, addressing a critical need in a community where many become mothers at an early age.

  • Job Preparation: For older children, guest speakers discuss job opportunities, helping them envision and work toward promising futures.

Through these programs, the Villa Dique Youth Center is a thriving example of Hope for the Youth’s commitment to breaking the cycle of hardship and empowering young people to transform their community.

The Villa Dique Project is a transformative initiative by Hope for the Youth that provides essential resources and opportunities to young people in one of Porto Alegre's most underserved communities. With a newly built youth center, we offer education, health support, and creative programs that empower children to envision a brighter future beyond the cycle of hardship.

In Porto Alegre, Brazil, Hope for the Youth is making a difference in Villa Dique—a community that has long faced challenges with limited access to clean water, safe housing, and education. With families of up to 15 people living in homes meant for 3-4, many young adults have had to turn to crime as a means of survival. This cycle of hardship has, for too long, impacted the lives of young people, but we’re here to change that.

Our Achievements: Through collective effort and support, we have built a dedicated youth center for the children of Villa Dique. This center stands as a beacon of opportunity, offering around 200 local children a safe space to learn, play, and explore alternatives beyond their immediate surroundings.
